THREE faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering have been named to the technical panels of various engineering disciplines of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).
Assoc. Prof. Dolores Cleofas of the Department of Civil Engineering was named chairperson of the technical panel for sanitary engineering.
Cleofas handles courses in engineering economy, environmental engineering, engineering hydrology, and water resources Engineering.
Cleofas obtained her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the National University in 1985 and completed her doctorate at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman in 2012.
She was recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission as an outstanding professional in sanitary engineering in 2015.
Engineering Dean Angelo Dela Cruz was appointed to the technical panel for electronics engineering.
Dela Cruz handles courses in signal processing theory and applications, digital communications, and thesis writing.
He finished his bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications engineering at Mapua Institute of Technology and his doctorate in electrical and electronics engineering at UP Diliman.
Dela Cruz, who has been serving as the dean since 2022, was awarded the Fr. Roque Ruaño Professorial Chair in Engineering in 2018.
Asst. Prof. Carlito Gutierrez, the chairperson of the Department of Electrical Engineering, was appointed to the technical panel for electrical engineering.
Gutierrez, who handles courses in introduction to engineering and differential equations, graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from UST in 1997.
He has served as an accreditor for the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities and as a member of the CHEd’s regional quality assessment team.
A technical panel is tasked with developing and reviewing degree programs, evaluating their implementation, and checking university compliance.
Their terms will run from September 2025 to September 2028.
