THE UNIVERSITY has appointed three new officials, including the first chief of a new engineering research hub, the Office of the Secretary General announced on March 26.
Asst. Prof. Seigfred Prado of the Faculty of Engineering has been appointed director of the Research Center for Engineering and Technological Sciences, set to be fully operational in the next academic year.
The center is housed in the Roque Ruaño Building, but will also occupy laboratories in the UST-Dr. William T. Belo Interdisciplinary Research Institute in UST Manila Annex (UST MAx).
Prado, a graduate of the UST electronics and communications engineering program, teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Asst. Prof. Mary Grace Bautista, also from the Faculty of Engineering, will succeed Prado as the executive assistant in the Office of the Assistant to the Rector for UST MAx in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Bautista teaches courses in the Department of Electronics Engineering and advises various student organizations within the faculty.
Fr. Ivan Obando, O.P. was named assistant archivist at the Archivo de la Universidad de Santo Tomás, replacing Fr. Roman Santos, O.P., who is now the rector of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba.
Obando is an instructor at the Ecclesiastical Faculties and director of the finance and resources department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila.
The appointments will take effect on April 1.
