THE UNIVERSITY has obtained the ISO 21001:2018 Educational Organization Management System (EOMS) certification, marking a transition from the previous ISO 9001:2015 business quality standard.

In a memorandum dated Oct. 25, the Office of the Secretary General announced the new certification granted by TÜV SÜD PSB Philippines, Inc., a private certifying body.

This follows the successful conduct of the ISO Stage 2 audit by TÜV SÜD from Sept. 1 to 4.

ISO 21001:2018 of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a published international standard that ensures an organization’s ability to “support the acquisition and development of competence through teaching, learning or research.”

An ISO certification ensures customers of improved quality and provides an organization a competitive edge in worldwide markets.

“May this milestone inspire us to strengthen our shared vocation as educators and stewards of quality, ensuring that every Thomasian experience reflects the heart of our mission — to form competent, committed, and compassionate servants of the truth,” said UST Secretary General Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P., in the memorandum.

With the certification, all administrative and academic units must use the new ISO 21001 EOMS logo in all University materials, replacing the previous ISO 19001 logo.

The shift means UST follows ISO quality standards more tailored to the educational context instead of the previous scheme adopted by general business organizations.

Founded in 1866, TÜV SÜD is a global certification company headquartered in Munich, Germany. It provides safety, security, and sustainability solutions through testing, certification, and inspection services.
