The UST General Santos (GenSan) campus is set to offer three new degree programs in Academic Year (AY) 2026 to 2027.
UST GenSan announced on Feb. 4 that the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) had issued permits for three new programs while granting government recognition to five existing ones.
The three new programs, which will be bachelor of science (BS) degrees, are:
- BS Accountancy
- BS Civil Engineering, Major in Structural Engineering
- BS Biology, Major in Medical Biology
CHEd Region 12 also recognized the existing programs offered by the GenSan campus, namely Accounting Information System, Entrepreneurship, Industrial Engineering, and Medical Technology, Pharmacy, following a quality assurance process and onsite validation held in November last year.
Under the quality assurance process, CHEd Region 12 evaluates higher education institutions to ensure compliance with quality standards, including reviews of curricula, faculty, and facilities.
According to UST GenSan, regional officials commended the institution for its “well-organized academic and administrative systems” and “state-of-the-art facilities” during the evaluation.
Inaugurated in 2024, the GenSan is the largest UST campus, at twice the size of the 40-hectare UST Manila Annex campus in Santa Rosa, Laguna and four times larger than the 21-hectare main campus in Manila.
A total of 317 students enrolled at the Mindanao campus in Term 1 of AY 2025-2026, an increase from the 126 students during the campus’s inaugural year.
