UST General Santos (GenSan) announced a shift to the enriched virtual mode of instruction (EVM) from Aug. 29 to 30 to allow electrical repairs following a reported explosion at the campus’ electrical service entrance.
Dennis Manejero, assistant director of the Facilities Management Office (FMO) at the GenSan campus, said security personnel reported the explosion at 1 p.m. on Aug. 25.
“The Socoteco (South Cotabato Electric Cooperative) personnel informed security that the device at the substation tripped,” Manejero told the Varsitarian.
“Upon their investigation, they found out that our L1 XLPE power cable had burn indications,” he said.
The GenSan FMO responded to the area and operated a generator set on Aug. 26, as classes resumed from a public holiday.
“We coordinated with the administrators asking if it would be possible to have online class and work-from-home modalities while we find ways to repair the electrical connections,” Manajero said.
In a Facebook post, UST GenSan said it would implement EVM while support staff would be on remote operations until Saturday, Aug. 30. Czeantal Naomi P. Delos Santos with reports Amador Denzel M. Teston
