THE UNIVERSITY will implement a stricter ID policy starting this month.
The pilot testing of ID tapping stations at all campus gates, which began on Sept. 29, will continue through the entire month of October.
“This effort stems from our deepest commitment, ensuring the safety and security of every Thomasian,” Assoc. Prof. Juliano Parena, director of the Campus Safety and Security Office, told the Varsitarian.
Freshmen who have not yet received their UST IDs may present their registration forms to security guards stationed at the gate when entering the campus or buildings.
Parishioners attending Mass at the Santisimo Rosario Parish Church may enter Gate 7 at P. Noval Street.
Patients and those with transactions at the UST Hospital may enter Gate 14 at Lacson Street or use the pedestrian entry points located between the Doctor’s Clinics and the St. John Paul II buildings.
Parena advised visitors to enter the gate nearest to the place they want to visit.
Visitors with other transactions on campus must enter through Gate 2, located along España Boulevard.
To enter, visitors must complete an information sheet and surrender a valid government, school, or company ID, Parena said.
Visitors are required to wear their visitor’s ID while inside the campus premises, which shall be surrendered at the same gate they entered.
UST alumni who have been issued RFID-capable cards may use them to tap at campus gates.
Alumni who do not have RFID cards may still present their old alumni cards and inform the guards of the purpose of their visit and will be assisted if necessary. Alexandra S. Demaisip with reports from Amador Denzel M. Teston
