THE UNIVERSITY was named “Marketing School of the Year” anew, after three marketing management students topped the 2026 Registered Marketing Professional (RMP) Certification Examination.

The recognition, given by Junior Achievement (JA) Philippines, Inc., marked the University’s third consecutive year receiving the award.

Allyah Amboy led the Thomasian topnotchers after garnering the second-highest score nationwide.

Phrileane Sideño followed suit, placing fifth, while Pauline Cruz bagged the eighth spot.

In an interview with the Varsitarian, the three topnotchers said their classroom learnings served as their foundation for the examination, in which questions involved the application of theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

Amboy said finding time to prepare was her main challenge.

“I was balancing student leadership and a voluntary internship on top of everything. So I had to be strategic: less about covering everything, more about actively recalling what I already knew,” she said.

She attributed her performance to the support and review sessions organized by the College of Commerce and Business Administration’s marketing department.

“It isn’t about how much I can remember, it’s about how well I can think… In marketing, knowing the fundamentals is one thing, but being able to apply them in different scenarios is what really makes that difference,” she said.

For Cruz, her classroom learnings and experiences in student organizations helped her develop a foundation in marketing practice.

“As early as first year, our professors already trained us not just to understand theories, but to apply them, especially in case-based situations,” she said.

“You get to learn from your peers and, at the same time, push each other to do better,” she said.

The RMP examination assesses competencies across key marketing disciplines and consists of theoretical questions and case analyses.

The exam was administered by JA Philippines, a member of JA Worldwide, a nonprofit for youth programs in work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.

The 2026 RMP examination was held in November 2025. The results were released on March 22, 2026. Czeantal Naomi P. Delos Santos
