THE UNIVERSITY produced a total of 151 new licensed teachers in the September and November 2025 licensure examinations, with two Thomasians emerging as topnotchers.

At the secondary level, 101 out of 102 UST examinees passed the examination, good for a 99.02% passing rate. 

UST’s passing rate improved from the 97.73% it recorded in the March 2025 cycle. 

Kyla Purcil led the fresh crop of Thomasian secondary teachers, placing eighth with a score of 93.40%. 

Former Varsitarian Filipino editor Diana Cabalo is among the successful examinees. 

Jed Abadia of the Cebu Normal University took the No. 1 spot with a 94.80% score. 

Cebu Normal ranked first among schools with more than 300 examinees (802 out of 822, 97.57%), while West Visayas State University – La Paz was No. 1 among schools with 100 to 299 examinees (241 out of 242, 99.59%).

The national passing rate for secondary teachers improved to 72.63% (57,729 of 79,480) from 62.31% (38,747 of 62,183) in the previous cycle. 

Elementary level 

Meanwhile, UST posted a 96.15% passing rate for elementary-level teachers, with 50 of 52 examinees passing. 

Nicole Bayona placed ninth in the exams for elementary teachers, scoring 92.40%. 

UST improved its passing rate in the examination for elementary teachers from 95.24% in the previous cycle. 

Christel Delos Reyes of the Cebu Normal topped the examination, recording a 94.40% score. 

West Visayas State University was named as the top-performing school for those with 100 or more examinees (134 out of 135, 99.26%), while Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology was No. 1 among schools with 50 to 99 examinees. 

The national passing rate for elementary teachers improved to 51.9% (21,967 of 42,996) from 46.79% (16, 282 of 34,795). 

The licensure examinations for secondary and elementary teachers were administered on Sept. 21 and Nov. 30, respectively.
