THE UNIVERSITY produced 63 licensed teachers in the March 2025 licensure examinations for elementary- and secondary-level teachers.
At the elementary level, 20 out of 21 Thomasian examinees passed, good for a 95.24% passing rate.
UST’s passing rate dipped from the 100% rating recorded in December 2024, when all 84 Thomasians made the cut.
Jamaema Mustapha of Mindanao State University (Maigo Sat) and Raeiden Pango of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institution of Technology shared the No. 1 spot, each scoring 94.60%.
Bicol University-Daraga was named the top-performing school in the cycle with a 97.12% passing rate (101 of 104).
Kenneth Landazabal, a former Varsitarian photographer, was among the successful examinees at the licensure exams for elementary teachers.
The national passing rate for the elementary level rose to 46.77% (16,282 of 34,810) from 45.53% (20,025 of 43,985) in December 2024.
Secondary level
Meanwhile, UST produced 43 passers from a pool of 44 examinees in the separate licensure exams for secondary-level teachers, in which it posted a 97.73% passing rate.
This was an improvement from the 96.09% passing rate UST (123 of 128) recorded in the previous cycle.
Jeanlyn Colipano of Cebu Technological University-Danao led the new crop of secondary-level teachers with a score of 93.80%.
Philippine Normal University (PNU) campuses dominated the top-performing schools list.
PNU Manila led institutions with 300 or more examinees, posting a 98.98% passing rate (390 of 394).
Its Mindanao (150 passers), North Luzon (139 passers), and Visayas (133 passers) campuses all recorded perfect scores to lead schools with 100 to 299 examinees. PNU South Luzon topped the 50 to 99 examinees category with a 98% passing rate (49 of 50).
The national passing rate for secondary-level teachers improved to 62.27% (38,747 of 62,225) from 56.89% (48,875 of 85,909) in the previous cycle.
The March 2025 licensure exams for elementary- and secondary-level teachers were held on March 23.
