THE UNIVERSITY is set to formally elevate 49 faculty members to full professor in a conferment ceremony on July 9 at the Dr. Robert C. Sy Grand Ballroom of the Blessed Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building.

The honorees come from 13 academic units and have “distinguished themselves in scholarship, training and service,” according to UST Secretary General Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P.

“We pray that our new professors may be continually blessed by our Great Teacher, Our Lord Jesus Christ, as they preach competence, commitment, and compassion in serving the University and the Church,” Coronel said in a June 25 circular. 

Before the conferment of professorial medals, a Mass will be held at the Santísimo Rosario Parish Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with Coronel as presider.

The conferment ceremony will be led by UST Vice Rector Rev. Fr. Isaias Tiongco, O.P. and will be followed by a reception. 

The new professors from the Faculty of Arts and Letters are Prof. Evalyn Abiog, Prof. Joselito delos Reyes, Prof. Rodrigo Litao, Prof. Carlos Manapat, Prof. Jeremaiah Opiniano, Prof. Chuckberry Pascual, Prof. Raniel Reyes, and Prof. Alain Santos.

Longtime faculty member Antonio Dayag of the UST-Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy will also be elevated to full professor.

From the College of Information and Computing Sciences, those to be conferred full professor status are Prof. Donata Acula, Prof. Mylene Domingo, Prof. Noel Estrella, and Prof. Eugenia Zhuo.

College of Commerce Dean Al Faithrich Navarette will also receive the professorial medal, alongside faculty members Prof. Imelda Angeles, Prof. Agnes Bandojo, and Prof. Elizabeth Magbata.

Another dean, Prof. Gezzez Granado of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, will be honored along with Prof. Ryan Liba.

Recipients from the College of Education are Prof. Joel Adamos and Prof. Wennielyn Fajilan, while Prof. Anthony Bautista and Prof. Joehanna Ngo are the honorees from the Faculty of Engineering. 

The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery has the most number of faculty members to be promoted to full professor, led by its dean, Prof. Ma. Lourdes Maglinao. She will be joined by Prof. Christine Bernal, Prof. Ma. Rosario Cabansag, Prof. Julie Li-Yu, Prof. Melvin Marcial, Prof. Bien Matawaran, Prof. Millicent Ong, Prof. Estrellita Ruiz, Prof. Alex Sua, and Prof. Julie Visperas.

From the Faculty of Pharmacy, this year’s honorees are Prof. Ruel de Grano, Prof. Gregorio Martin I, and Prof. Myla Santiago-Bautista. 

Institute of Physical Education and Athletics:  Prof. Raymond Anselmo.

Institute of Religion: Prof. Allan Basas, Prof. Maila Blanza, and Prof. Marites Redoña.

College of Rehabilitation Sciences: Prof. Ivan Gomez, Prof. Donald Lipardo, and Prof. Donald Manlapaz.

College of Science: Prof. Josephine Benjamin, Prof. Loida Medina, Prof. Richard Pavia, Prof. Felicidad Peñafiel, Prof. Marilyn Rimando, and Prof. Joy Tungol.

The newly promoted professors will receive a golden medallion bearing the Latin name of the University and an image of its patron, St. Thomas Aquinas.
