THE UNIVERSITY emerged as the second top-performing school in the October 2025 chemistry licensure examinations.
A total of 67 Thomasians made the cut out of 80 examinees, an 83.75% passing rate, which was an improvement from the 61.97% it recorded last cycle.
Zeus Cruz secured the fourth spot nationwide with a score of 93.25%. He was the valedictorian of Class of 2025 of the College of Science.
University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños was the top-performing school with a 95.38% passing rate (62 of 65).
Crisandro Lazo of UP Manila topped the exams with a 94.35% rating.
The national passing rate rose to 73.22% (842 of 1,150) from 54.41% (592 of 1,088) in 2024.
The licensure examinations for chemists were conducted on Oct. 13 and 14.
Chemical technicians
UST’s passing rate in the separate licensure examinations for chemical technicians rose to 98.05% (151 of 154), from the 94.07% rating it recorded in the previous cycle.
Chemical engineering alumna Mayumi Menrige Calpotura placed fourth with a score of 93%.
Paolo Bueno, an academic staff at the Faculty of Pharmacy, ranked fifth scoring 92.50%.
Technological University of the Philippines Visayas was named top-performing school after all of its 67 examinees passed.
Abel Alcantara of Batangas State University Alangilan topped the exams with a 95.50% rating.
The national passing rate climbed to 83.88% (2,320 of 2,766), from 77.83% (2,110 of 2,711) in the October 2024 cycle.
