THE UNIVERSITY will confer a Doctor of Commerce degree on construction magnate Alice Eduardo in a solemn investiture on Sept. 30 at the Dr. Robert Sy Grand Ballroom of the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building.

In a circular dated Sept. 24, UST said Eduardo, who graduated with a commerce degree in 1986, will receive an honoris causa degree in recognition of her significant contributions to her field and to society.

“Ms. Eduardo’s achievements and generosity reflect the fruits of Thomasian education where faith seeks understanding, and knowledge is directed toward the common good,” the circular read.

Born in Nueva Ecija, Eduardo is a 60-year-old businesswoman and the eldest of four children of Andres Eduardo and Elisa Galang.

She is the sister of Marissa “Small” Laude, an entrepreneur and lifestyle vlogger who rose to popularity in 2019.

In 2024, Eduardo was one of The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) awardees, the University’s highest honor conferred on alumni who have made significant contributions to society and the Church.

Eduardo was recognized as one of Forbes Asia’s “Heroes of Philanthropy” in 2018 and People Asia’s Lifetime Achievement Awardee in 2023 for her charitable endeavors.

Eduardo is the founder and chief executive officer of Sta. Elena Construction and Development Corp., known for building SM malls, expressways, and high-rise developments.
