MARIAN devotees should spread the word of Jesus whenever and wherever as part of their life’s mission, a Manila shrine rector said during the enthronement rites of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary of UST on Sept. 26.

Fr. Enrico Adoviso, rector of the Our Lady of Loreto Shrine, said during his homily that those who truly love Mary will proclaim the word of Jesus “in season and out of season.”

“We are not just devotees of Mary. The devotion for Mary is a mission,” Adoviso said in Filipino.

“The mission is to spread the word of the Lord because if we don’t, we are not true followers of Christ. That is the first requirement to be a Marian devotee,” he said.

Mary, as the new ark of the covenant whose soul proclaimed “the greatness of the Lord,” is a prime example of how devotees should go about their mission in following Christ, Adoviso said.

“She emulates the word of God. The doer of the Word. She showed us who Christ is. As followers of Christ, we should not only listen to His word but also emulate Christ in our lives.”

The Enthronement Mass followed the procession of the image of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary from the Main Building to the Santisimo Parish Church in UST.

The event kicked off the celebrations for the Fiesta del Santisimo Rosario 2024, which has the theme “Inang Maria, ipanalangin mo kami.”

The parish will celebrate its feast on Oct. 6. There will be a procession and Masses throughout the day, with the Misa Mayor scheduled at 4 p.m.
