A UST Junior High School student bagged the grand prize in the 2nd Bartolome de las Casas Community Development poster exhibit contest.
Einna Ryc Echon bested 14 other participants from the different faculties and colleges of the University, with a total score of 88.8 percent.
“I am beyond ecstatic. Hard work really pays off because I actually struggled a lot to finish my poster,” Echon told the Varsitarian.
Echon’s work had the University’s motto, “Truth in Charity,” placed on a montage of the Junior High School’s community development projects and programs.
Themed “Unending Grace: Thomasians Serving with Compassion, Commitment, and Competence,” the 2nd Bartolome de las Casas Community Development Poster Exhibit Contest sought to “highlight the best practices of the University in the field of community development and its various advocacy initiatives.”
Roman Patrick de Villa of the Faculty of Arts and Letters and John Bobbie Marfiga of the Faculty of Engineering were this year’s first and second runners-up.
Christian Derick Aquino (Senior High School), Noriel Mercado (College of Commerce and Business Administration) and Coleen Gayle Palma (Institute of Information and Computing Sciences) won People’s Choice Awards.
