TOURISM alumnus Michael Leyva and his team donated 1,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners of different hospitals battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the help of actress and UST High School alumna Angel Locsin, Leyva delivered PPEs to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital and hospitals in Antipolo, Taguig and Las Piñas.

“[The production is on-going and will be continuous] as long as there is a need,” the fashion designer told the Varsitarian in an online interview.

Leyva said he read news articles about the lack of PPEs.

Although not medical grade, the alternative suits can help protect health care workers.

Leyva and his team personalized each PPE pack with bible verses and quotes.

“I wanted to reach out to our heroes not only by donating, but also by telling them that God is with them, always,” he said.

The Department of Health has reported 2,311 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of this writing, with 96 deaths.

The fatalities include 17 doctors, with some of the deaths blamed on the lack of PPEs.
