February 19, 11:30 a.m.- IN A REPEAT of last year’s Central Student Council (CSC) election, independents once again ruled the polls and grabbed five of six council positions for the academic year 2011-2012.

The highest seat in the council, however, was won by Lakas ng Diwang Tomasino (Lakasdiwa) party bet Lorraine Taguiam of the Faculty of Civil Law, who got a total of 13,661 votes against independent candidate Justin Tan of the College of Architecture who acquired 10,993 votes.

Peter Carlo David of the Faculty of Arts and Letters was elected as vice president with 13,894 votes, against Lakasdiwa’s Jeff Maniquis who got 10,419 votes.

Karizza Kamille Cruz of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Erik Paul Ponce of the College of Accountancy were elected secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Cruz, with 15,040 votes, had a margin of more than 5,000 votes against rival Richelle Divina’s 9,582. Ponce got 14,445 votes against Jeroen De Leon’s 10,220 votes.

Giorgia Maxine Parayno of the College of Commerce and Business Administration won as auditor with 12,636 votes against 11,925 votes garnered by Lakasdiwa’s Ralph Allen Sales.

Rjay Yu, meanwhile, was elected public relations officer with 14,015 votes versus Misa Christina Manansala’s 10,776 votes.

The new batch of CSC officers will assume office on May 2011 and will replace the incumbent council officers Leandro Santos II (president), Edrem See (vice president), Kristine Mae Urbi (secretary), Franz Kevin Geronimo (treasurer), Joan Charmaine Lim (auditor), and John Ryan Sze (public relations officer). 1. totoo ba na sinampahan ng isang partido ang lakasdiwa dahil sa plagiarism na ginawa nito sa mga propaganda materials na ginamit nitong recent elections?

  2. OO. Nakakahiya, Civil Law at Med pa naman yung tumakbo for Pres. and VP nila.

  3. If we trace back history, SDP and LAKASDIWA are 2 allied parties back then. Ilang years na po ginagamit ng Lakasdiwa-commerce at Lakasdiwa-accountancy ung principles na yon at the COMELEC records can testify to that. I don’t blame the candidates and the core officers kaC ung mga alumni ng both parties before ang nag-usap regarding this matter dahil noong 1995 payapa pa naman ang politika ng UST.

  4. It’s not PLAGIARISM. Know the meaning of plagiarism first.
First the elements of plagiarism was not present in that case.
The manuscript was not acquired from fraud and as well the act was not done with malicious intent, LAKASDIWA did acted in good faith.

And SDP should be thankful for LAKASDIWA for having the same ideals and principle. Think of it. The problem with some Thomasian politicians, pinadudumi ang pulitika.

As an ordinary student parang napakawalang kwenta.

Nakakahiya naman sa SDP kung hindi nila alam ang ibig sabihin ng PLAGIARISM na sinasabi nila for LAKASDIWA na may Civil Law Student as their standard bearer.
