THOMASIANS now have their very own “praying area,” with today’s
blessing of the campus’ new rosary garden.

Fr. Rolando de la Rosa, O.P., Rector of UST, blessed the “Rosarium” at
9 a.m., capping the visit of the centuries-old image of Our Lady of
the Rosary of La Naval. The image was brought back via motorcade to
Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City at 10 a.m.

The Rosarium was described as a “visual form of the rosary.”

Noon kasi, dito, parang park lang. Students do what they like, parang
naging
lovers’ lane. Ngayon, when they come here, they’ll be inclined
to pray,” De la Rosa said of the Rosarium.

The Rector said that since UST’s establishment, it has been devoted to
the Lady of the Holy Rosary, as directed by the founder, Msgr. Miguel
de Benavides, O.P., the third bishop of Manila.

“I think that it’s because of this that we have lasted for 400 years.
And with this structure (Rosarium) here in the campus, people will get
to realize the importance of the rosary not only for the University
but also in their lives,” De la Rosa told the Varsitarian.

The new structure at the former Tinoko Park, at the right side of the
Main Building, is now open to the Thomasian community. Daphne J.
