April 29, 2012, 10:24 p.m.: The UST Lady Spikers dispatched of a gritty Adamson University squad, 20-25, 25-17, 25-29, 25-22, to clinch a quarterfinals berth in the first conference of the Shakey’s V-League at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

After losing the first frame, the Lady Spikers regrouped and cruised through the last two sets as Thai import Utaiwan Kaensing, Judy Caballejo, and Marie Balse nailed crucial spikes.

But the Lady Falcons refused to give up as Pau Soriano and Erika Alkuino kept the game close in the fourth frame, 21-19. Caballejo and Kaensing ignited a 4-1 run to close the game.

Kaensing topscored for UST with 17 points, including five blocks, while Caballejo, Balse, and Maika Ortiz tossed in 16 markers each to help the Lady Spikers notch their second-straight victory.

The Lady Falcons leaned on Soriano, who came through with 15 points. Guest player Nerissa Bautista and Shiela Pineda added 12 markers apiece. Chenny V. Ramos
