15 December 2012, 5:12 p.m.  – THE UST Lady Spikers recovered from a two-game slump after making quick work of University of the Philippines, 25-18, 25-11, 25-14, at The Arena in
San Juan Saturday afternoon.

After dropping their games against National University and Ateneo de Manila University, the Lady Spikers relied on the relentless offense of Maika
Ortiz and Maru Banaticla, who scored 14 and 13 points, to improve their record to 2-2 halfway through the first round.

UST opened the last frame with a furious 10-point rally to derail UP’s offense. The Lady Spikers sealed the match following the service error of UP’s
Ana Del Mundo.

UST coach Odjie Mamon said resolving the mistakes of the team in previous games was key to winning this one.

“We prepared not for the other team but for our own strategy,” he said. “We fixed our system because it hadn’t worked for us in the past games.” Jose Antonio R. Nisay
