02 June 2013, 4:30 p.m. – THE UST Lady Spikers clinched third place in the Shakey’s V-League after a 25-18, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory over Adamson University in their best-of-three series at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig Sunday afternoon.

Most Improved Player Pamela Lastimosa starred for the Lady Spikers with 15 points, three blocks and an ace. Veteran Maika Ortiz chipped in 16 markers.

Pauline Soriano paced Adamson with 13 points.

UST capitalized on the Lady Falcons’ errors and minimized its own to deny Adamson of a podium finish this season.

Lady Spikers head coach Odjie Mamon lauded his players’ desire to win despite the absence of guest player and former UST standout Aiza Maizo.

“We got what we came here for. We wanted to end the season with a win,” Mamon said. “I also instructed the team to dedicate the game to Aiza (Maizo) who had to attend to important family matters.”

The third-place finish was the worst for UST, which is the winningest team in V-League history with six championships since the tournament began in 2004. Ralph Joshua D.R. Hernandez
