October 10, 2015, 1:12a.m. – THE FORMER Master of the Order of Preachers is set to lead the Asia-Pacific Dominican Family Retreat at the UST Quadricentennial Pavillion on Oct. 12-14.

Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, O.P., director of the Las Casas Institute of Blackfriars Oxford, will serve as the main speaker of the event.

Fr. Radcliffe is a member of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and trustee of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development, an international aid agency working to alleviate poverty in developing countries. He was president of the Conference of Major Religious Superiors.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, president of the Catholic’s Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines and member of the priestly fraternity of St. Dominic, will offer the opening Mass of the retreat.

The Dominican Family Leaders Conference will be held after the retreat to allow superiors to meet in plenary assembly on Oct. 15-17. This involves discussion of various ways to celebrate the 8th Centenary of the Order next year.

In preparation for the Jubilee Year of the Dominican Order next year, about 1,300 Thomasian administrators, students and religious lay are expected to take part in the three-day event that will highlight themes on mercy, communion, and mission. Krystel Nicole A. Sevilla
