January 30, 2016, 1:13p.m. – CEBU CITY – SINULOG festival contest participants are expected to perform at Cebu City Sports Center Saturday for participants of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress
In a report by Panay News, Sinulog Foundation Executive Director Ricky Ballesteros said at least six acts that performed during the Sinulog festivities last Jan. 17 were expected to participate in the IEC cultural event.
The morning schedule for the seventh day of the IEC includes a catechesis by New York Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan, titled “The Eucharist and Mary,” and a testimony to be given by author-entrepreneur Mary Sarindhorn Mativachranon of Thailand.
A Holy Mass to be presided by Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal at Cebu City Sports Center in the afternoon will precede the Sinulog presentation. Some 5,000 children will receive their first communion.
Cardinal Vidal, who visited the IEC Pavillion, said international delegates could learn a lot from Cebuanos’ profound faith.
“Cebu is the origin of the Christianity in the Philippines. The religiosity of the Cebuanos is different. They really mean it,” Cardinal Vidal said. Lea Mat P. Vicencio
