March 27, 2016, 5:02p.m. – CHRISTIANS should welcome Christ’s resurrection as a reminder of the true meaning of “Easter joy.”
During the Easter Vigil held in UST Saturday night , Fr. Louie Coronel, O.P., Santisimo Rosario parish priest, said Easter represents the journey of life.
“What is the character of Easter joy? Ang kaligayahan ng muling pagkabuhay ay hindi makamundong kaligayahan. Ito’y tahimik, taimtim, matindi, at naglalakbay kahit sa kadiliman,” Fr. Coronel said. “Ang Easter joy ay ang galak na hindi makukuha sa’yo ng kahit sino man.”
During the Easter Vigil, which ended the Triduum, the Paschal Candle was lit from new fire, signifying Christ as the light of the world. The faithful also renewed their baptismal promises.
The traditional “Salubong” took place at dawn on Easter Sunday. Images of the Risen Christ and the Blessed Mother were brought to Plaza Mayor to reenact their encounter. Lea Mat P. Vicencio
