UST Hospital (USTH) on Saturday confirmed that two of its patients tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) while one person under investigation was closely being monitored.

Medical Director Dr. Marcellus Francis Ramirez said the hospital had sent trainees and staff, who were exposed to the patients, home for self-quarantine.

“All necessary precautions are being done to protect the health of our staff and trainees. We are in close coordination with Department of Health and Regional Epidemiological and Surveillance Unit,” Ramirez told the Varsitarian.

“The hospital has protocols. Contact tracing is being done and contingencies are in place,” he said.

Ramirez also called for prayers for all the front-liners and healthcare staff of UST Hospital.

Earlier on Saturday, the Department of Health confirmed two additional Covid-19 deaths, which brought the total to eight mortalities.

The Philippines has recorded a total 98 confirmed cases of infection.
