A FEW hours before the official proclamation of new CSC officers, the lone seeker of the presidency, Nathan Agustin, was at risk of disqualification due to his inability to obtain a copy of his temporary transcript of records from the Registrar.
“Sa ngayon kasi, my candidacy is still at risk. I was not able to comply with the temporary transcript of records requirement dahil hanggang ngayon hindi pa binubuksan ng registrar yung [online student records application] ko even if [the Office for Student Affairs] already sent to them my clearance last April 5,” Agustin, the Civil Law Student Council president, told the Varsitarian this afternoon.
“Even if I may be able to retrieve it, our dean’s office has yet to encode our grades, so it will remain incomplete,” he added.
Under the UST Students’ Election Code of 2011, a certified copy of the temporary transcript of records from the University Registrar bearing a candidate’s general weighted average is one of the documents required of CSC candidates.
Agustin said he followed up his case with the UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday.
“Ang sagot [ng UST Central Comelec] is they’ll deliberate on it, and they will update me as soon as meron na. However, up until now, wala pang update as to what will happen later,” he said.
The Varsitarian has reached out to the UST Central Comelec but has yet to receive a response as of writing.
CSC candidates Francisco Mayuyu (secretary), Benjamin Amper IV (treasurer), Dale Marollano (auditor) and Rhojen Sianda (public relations officer) told the Varsitarian that they have completed all requirements for their candidacies.
Last academic year, two candidates for public relations officer were also at risk of disqualification on the day of the proclamation due to lack of transcript.
According to a UST Comelec resolution regarding the canvassing of votes released last year, “a candidate who wins the elections for the Central Student Council or the Local Student Council but was unable to fulfill all the requirements by the Comelec shall be forfeited (sic) from the position, deeming vacant (sic).”
The program for Proklamasyon 2022 is ongoing.
