The UST Junior Female Tracksters clinched their first UAAP girls’ athletics championship after gaining 421 points as of Saturday at the Philsports Oval.

UST’s tally was built on 11 golds, 7 silvers and 6 bronzes.

Jeanne Arcibal gave the UST girls’ team a gold on day 4 after logging a 5.28-meter jump in the long jump competition.

UST swept the podium of the 5000-meter walk event with Francine Andrade, Lyka Mae Raterta and Aira Gacusan clinching gold, silver and bronze, respectively.

Lyka Miravalles and Wency Eli took home the gold and silver medals in the 400m after finishing at 1:07.72 and 1:09.89, respectively. 

The boys’ team finished in second place with 329 points behind Adamson University’s 387 points. 

The UST Junior Tracksters racked up four golds, six silvers and four bronzes. 

“‘Yung puso ng isang kampeon at pride ng isang Tomasino ang naging susi sa pagbalik namin sa championship contender,” UST head coach Manny Calipes told the Varsitarian

In the collegiate division, the UST Lady Tracksters picked up three medals to overtake the De La Salle University Lady Archers for the top seed. 

After sitting in second place from days 1 to 3, the Lady Tracksters surpassed DLSU in the total count, 258-246, after collecting a 7-1-6 gold-silver-bronze medal haul.

Jamela De Asis copped gold in the women’s shotput after setting a new UAAP record of 12.91 meters, while Efrelyn Democer earned bronze as she logged 11.61 meters.

Princess Gonzales nabbed silver as she registered 3875 points in the women’s heptathlon event.

In men’s play, the Male Tracksters nabbed two medals after Carlos de Imus registered a record-breaking 23:05.29 time in the 5000-meter walk to notch gold.

John Romero won silver with a leap of 1.88 meters in the men’s high jump event.

The Tiger Tracksters slid to fourth place with 140 points and a 2-4-0 gold-silver-bronze medal tally.

The last day of the athletics tournament will be on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the same venue. Bjorn Del B. Deade
