FORMER UAAP badminton Most Valuable Player Ricky Bartolome has been tapped to guide the UST Golden Shuttlers, replacing Noli Cajefe who served as head coach since 2000.
“[I want to] motivate them and train them harder. Pinupush namin sila sa limit nila, like what we did before ‘nung player pa ako,” Bartolome, Season 67’s MVP, told the Varsitarian.
Bartolome, who was assistant coach of the Golden Shuttlers for 10 years, said he wanted to lead the teams back into the Final Four after failing to do so in the last five years.
Under Cajefe, the Male Shuttlers won four titles while the Female Shuttlers bagged one.
RJ Ormilla, also a former Shuttler, will join the team as the new assistant coach.
Bartolome signed his contract last May 15.
