July 27, 2016, 2:30 p.m. – A FORMER Golden Sox was named head coach of the 13-Under Pioneer Baseball Team that will represent the Philippines in an international baseball tournament.

Arvin John Plaza will call the shots for the 12-man lineup in the World Baseball Foundation (WBF) 2016 International Baseball Tournament at the Miami, Florida from July 30 to Aug 7.

Seven countries are set to join the tournament, with powerhouse USA fielding three franchise baseball squads. The other participating countries are Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, the Netherlands and Puerto Rico.

The World Baseball Foundation is a US-based organization that seeks to promote baseball in the international arena.
