THE UST Golden Sox absorbed a 15-9 beating from defending UAAP champion Adamson University Soaring Falcons in the Philippine Baseball League at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.

The Falcons opened the game with three conversions at the top of first inning courtesy of Gerald Riparip, Kyle Villafaña and Steven Manaig, 3-0.

“Ang ugali kasi nila, kapag malaki ang lamang, nagre-relax na sila, kaya noong nakahabol na ang Adamson, hindi na sila makabawi at makapalo,” Golden Sox head coach Jeff Santiago told the Varsitarian.

At the bottom of the first inning, UST’s Israel Antonio, Ivan Llave, Mark Beronilla, Ron de la Cruz, Vince Mangapis, Adrian Aguilar and Alwen Calbang connived for seven runs to take the lead, 7-3.

But Adamson put the finishing touches in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings  after bombarding the Golden Sox with eleven runs courtesy of Raphael Rebollar, Bryan Castillo, Villafaña, Manaig, Raymond Matic, Erwin Bosito, James Salarda, Christian Maigue and Lexter Carandang to come away with the win.

UST slid to a 1-2 win-loss card.

The Golden Sox will try to bounce back against the Itakura Parts Philippines Corporation Nationals on Jan. 13, Sunday, 11 a.m, at the same venue.
