THE UST Growling Tigers bested the Davao All Stars, 87-76, and bagged the Kadayawan Tournament championship at the USEP Court in Davao City last Aug. 27.
UST cruised into the finals with powerhouses De La Salle University and Far Eastern University out of contention after their bench-clearing brawl.
“Malalakas ‘yung nakalaban tulad ng La Salle. Helpful siya kasi nakita namin ‘yung dedication ng bawat isa and may teamwork din. Kumbaga parang sa team building, nabuo rin kami,” Marvin Lee, tournament MVP, told the Varsitarian.
This was the Tigers’ final pre-season stint before they open their UAAP campaign against the University of the Philippines on Sept. 10, 2 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.
UST will look to bounce back after its worst finish since the Final Four format was introduced in 1993.
