FORMER De La Salle University guard Brent Paraiso’s transfer to the Growling Tigers will make a good addition because of his “familiarity with the system and his role,” head coach Aldin Ayo said.

Paraiso and former La Salle Team B member Renzel Yongco will serve a one-year residency before they could suit up for the Tigers.

“Kasi ‘yung mga recruits natin for next year [ay] scorers, sila Brent ay role players. Role players na capable din to score pero they know their roles and they are familiar with the system kaya fit sila at makakatulong sa atin,” Ayo said.

Paraiso is currently in the lineup of UST in the Smart-UCBL Summer Cup, where he scattered 17 points in the Tigers’ loss to Jose Rizal University last May 9.

“[I have seen] the system of coach Aldin so I think I’m going to be fit here,” he told the Varsitarian in a post-game interview.

UST also secured former Colegio de San Lorenzo Griffins big man Soulemane Chabi Yo, who will most likely replace 23-year-old Steve Akomo once he leaves the Tigers’ lair due to the UAAP age restriction.

The 22-year-old Chabi Yo will also serve a one-year residency before playing in the UAAP.

The 6’6” Beninese recruit led the Griffins to the championship of the UCBL last year and was hailed the Best Foreign Player after tallying 20 points and 15 rebounds per game.  with reports from Ivan Ruiz L. Suing
