AFTER a year with the Growling Tigers, top guard Jordan Sta. Ana has decided to leave due to personal reasons.

Sta. Ana, who led the Tigers in scoring last season, confirmed his departure to the Varsitarian after hinting about it on his Twitter account.

“Gusto ko lang muna mag-focus sa sarili ko to improve kung ano pa yung mga kulang ko in playing basketball,” he told the Varsitarian in an online interview.

Sta. Ana said he wanted to develop his on-court maturity while out of the team.

He informed the coaching staff of his decision after their game against Adamson University in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup last May 18.

Sta. Ana clarified that he was not quitting because of problems with new coach Aldin Ayo’s system or the coaching staff. He has yet to decide whether he would rejoin the Tigers in the future.

In Season 80, Sta. Ana was one of the go-to-guys of the team, averaging 14.5 points and 4.5 assists per game.
