SOULEMANE Chabi Yo registered a double-double and the UST Growling Tigers notched their fourth-straight win at the expense of the Go-for-Gold-De La Salle-College of St. Benilde Blazers, 94-82, in the Philippine Basketball Association Developmental League at the Paco Arena Tuesday.

Chabi Yo led the Tigers with 32 points and 25 rebounds as UST remained atop the standings with a clean 4-0 win-loss slate.

The Tigers extended their 74-69 lead midway through the payoff period with a 20-13 blast to pull away for good.

“We started out flat pero our second string brought us back in the game. We exploited their lack of big man presence and aside from Chabi, our other men were able to execute plays,” UST head coach Aldin Ayo said.

Down 33-34 with 4:45 left in the second quarter, the Tigers went on a 10-1 run, topped by Chabi Yo’s layup for 43-35 lead at the half.

UST erased St. Benilde’s 12-point lead in the first quarter with an 18-3 burst to gain momentum entering the second frame, 20-17.

The Tigers outrebounded the Blazers, 77-41.

UST also grabbed 30 second chance points while St. Benilde had 10.

Sherwin Concepcion had 13 points for the Tigers, while Renzo Subido and Mark Nonoy had 12 and 10 markers, respectively.

Justin Gutang led the Blazers with 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Jimboy Pasturan added 13 markers.

The Tigers will try to extend their winning streak against the Che’lu Bar and Grill Revellers on April 2, Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Jesus Christ Saves Global Outreach Gym in Cubao.
