THE UST Growling Tigresses squeaked past the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 56-55, in the UAAP season 82 women’s basketball tournament at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Sunday.
FEU’s Clare Castro missed a potential game-winner allowing UST to hang onto the victory.
Reigning MVP Grace Irebu posted 21 markers, eight boards, two blocks and three steals while Lon Rivera added nine points and five rebounds for UST.
Choy Bahuyan led FEU in scoring with 15 points while Judy Abat had 12.
The Tigresses share the second spot with a 3-2 win-lose record similar to the Lady Tamaraws and the Adamson University Lady Falcons.
The Growling Tigresses will next face the De La Salle University Lady Archers on Sept. 25, Wednesday, 8 a.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena Pasay.
