Green Archer Deschon Winston’s 33-point game propelled De La Salle University to a record-setting 112-83 victory over the UST Growling Tigers on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Archers’ 112 points are the most scored by any team in the UAAP this season so far.

The Tigers were down early, 11-8, in the opening frame when the Archers went on a major 18-0 run en route to a 36-21 first quarter lead.

UST cut the deficit to 12 at the half, but the Archers used a 54-37 second half to hand the Tigers their sixth loss.

The Tigers never tasted the lead against the Taft-based squad, which led by as much as 32 points in the payoff period.

The Tigers saw their ball-handling woes continue as they scattered 22 turnovers. The Archers scored 21 off of UST’s wasted possessions.

Paul Manalang led the Tigers with 14 points off the bench. Bryan Santos added 13 points and seven rebounds for UST.

UST’s starters combined for only 33 points, matching Winston’s output.

Archers Justine Baltazar and Evan Nelle contributed 17 and 16, respectively.

The Tigers dropped to a 3-6 win-loss record with five games to go in Season 84.

The Growling Tigers will look to upset the unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Thursday, 10 a.m., at the same venue. Nicole Anne D.G. Bugauisan
