The UST Growling Tigers suffered their eighth-consecutive loss in embarrassing fashion after blowing a 19-point lead against the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 56-55, in the second round of the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

Adamson’s Cedrick Manzano finished his and-one play with 7.1 seconds left in the deciding quarter to give the Falcons a one-point lead, 56-55.

Jamba Garing and Nic Cabañero missed their chances to give UST the victory at the buzzer.

The Tigers were up by 19 points in the third quarter courtesy of Cabañero’s three-straight triples and Garing’s transition three, 47-28.

But Adamson answered with a 19-3 run in the same quarter to trim UST’s lead to two, 50-48.

The Tigers ruled the first half with a 12-point lead, 31-19.

With Adamson veteran Jerom Lastimosa sitting on the bench due to injury, Manzano led the team with 19 points.

Cabañero was the sole double-digit scorer of UST with 22 points.

The Tigers will next face the Ateneo Blue Eagles for their game No.10 at the same venue on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. John Peter L. Cajayon
