Bal “The Flash” David on Thursday resigned as UST head coach after the Growling Tigers finished with a 1-13 win-loss record last season, sources told the Varsitarian

The last time UST went 1-13 was in Season 80 when it was under Boy Sablan.

David was named coach of the Tigers in July, two months prior to the start of the UAAP season.

As a UST player, David helped steer the Growling Tigers to back-to-back championships in the early ‘90s under the legendary coach Aric del Rosario.

In Game 3 of the 1994 finals, David scored a game-high 17 points and sank the game-winning free throws with six seconds left against De La Salle University to win UST the title.

He was also part of the 1993 UST team that won the championship by sweeping the elimination round.

The Tigers will be with their third coach in as many seasons in Season 86.

The Tigers are 4-24 in two seasons since the Sorsogon “bubble” fiasco.

UST assistant coach Rodney Santos told the Varsitarian that he would remain part of the coaching staff despite David’s resignation.
