THE UST Golden Booters suffered a 0-2 loss from the Far Eastern University in their UAAP men’s football opener at the Rizal Memorial field Sunday.
FEU exploited UST’s porous defense early as Angelou Val Jurao and Rico Andes fired back-to-back goals in the 33rd and 35th minute, respectively.
The Booters tried to be more aggressive in the second half, but their attempts in the 68th, 76th, 78th and 80th minutes were all called offside.
Goalkeeper Ray Joseph Joyel averted an FEU meltdown by halting UST’s attempts in the 86th, 91st and 94th minutes.
“Yung mga goals galing naman sa errors pero first game pa lang naman, makakabawi naman yan. Maaga pa [at] marami pang mangyayari,” UST head coach Marjo Allado told the Varsitarian.
The Golden Booters (0-1) will face the Ateneo de Manila University on Feb. 12, 6 p.m, at the same venue.
