THE UST Golden Booters returned to the winning column after a 3-0 rout of the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in the UAAP Season 79 men’s football tournament at the Moro Lorenzo football field on Ateneo campus Thursday.
After Dexter Benecio scored the lone goal of the first half in the 32nd minute, the Golden Booters broke away with two conversions in the second half to improve to a 2-3 win-loss card.
UST’s Jason Rafol found the back of the net at 65th minute with a highlight-worthy header against two Adamson defenders before Marvin Bricenio put the nail on the coffin with another goal in the 79th minute.
“Ang pinakamagandang nangyari samin, we scored in the first half and nagdagdag kami sa second half. Kailangan ‘yun kasi 1-0 in the first half is not enough,” UST head coach Marjo Allado told The Varsitarian.
The Golden Booters’ defense tightened up as they foiled Ejike Ugwoke’s attempt late in the game.
UST will go against the De La Salle University Green Archers on Feb. 25, Saturday, 5:00 p.m., at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
