GOLDEN Booter Dexter Benecio’s late goal allowed UST to escape with a 2-2 draw against the National University Bulldogs in the UAAP Season 81 men’s football tournament at the Far Eastern University-Diliman pitch Sunday.
Benecio came up clutch with a follow through off a UST miss in the 96th minute to score the equalizer.
“[NU] dominated the first half, pero tuloy lang sa laban ang players namin. However, we still need to improve our finishing around the goal para hindi laging draw,” Golden Booters head coach Marjo Allado said.
Marcel Ouano gave the Bulldogs a comfortable 2-0 lead after drilling conversions in the 15th and 19th minutes, before UST’s Conrado Dimacali III shot past NU stopper Christian Betanio in the 27th minute to stop the bleeding.
UST improved to a 1-2-0 win-draw-loss card.
The Golden Booters will try to get a win against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on Feb. 28, Thursday, 9 a.m., at the same venue.
