A LONE GOAL by Lady Tamaraw Roselle Lecera towed the Far Eastern University past the UST Lady Booters, 1-0, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s football tournament at the Circulo Verde football pitch in Quezon City Wednesday.
Lecera was wide open inside the penalty box as she headed the ball into the net off a Jovelle Sudaria corner kick in the fifth minute and scored the only goal of the game.
“Sa sobrang init, iniisip nila na baka hindi sila makapag-survive ng one hour and 30 minutes kaya ang bola na lang ang pinapagalaw. Tinatry nilang ayusin kaya lang naapektuhan talaga sila sa init ng araw,” Lady Booters head coach Prescila “Aging” Rubio told the Varsitarian.
UST’s Shelah Mae Cadag failed to equalize in the 89th and 90th minutes as she was thwarted by FEU goalkeeper Kimberly Pariña.
The Lady Tamaraws improved to a 2-0-0 win-draw-loss card while the Lady Booters dropped to 1-0-1.
UST will try to bounce back against defending champion De La Salle University on March 9, Saturday, 1 p.m., at the same venue.
