THE UST Golden Booters settled for a 1-1 draw against defending champion University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in the UAAP Season 81 men’s football tournament at the Far Eastern University-Diliman pitch Thursday.
Striker Steven Anotado pulled off an equalizer for UST in the 54th minute after netting a screamer off an AJ Pasion assist.
Daniel Saavedra drew first blood for UP in the 50th minute after nailing a tap-in goal.
“[We had] defending errors so naapektuhan ang midfield. We conceded an easy goal pero good goal pa rin naman ‘yong kay Steven,” Golden Booters head coach Marjo Allado said.
Anotado had a chance to win the game for UST in the 89th minute but his attempt got blocked by UP goalie Jose Yared.
The Golden Booters remained at solo second with 2-4-1 win-draw-loss card.
