THE UST Lady Booters escaped the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles, 2-1, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s football tournament at the Circulo Verde football pitch Saturday.
Tied at 1 coming into the second half, Lady Booter Cecile Deita nailed a screamer in the 47th minute for the win.
“Nakita ko dito na gusto talagang manalo ng team. We managed to win pero kulang pa rin kami sa technical, tactical and desicion-making skills,” UST head coach Prescila “Aging” Rubio said.
Nicole Bugayog scored the first goal for Ateneo in the seventh minute, before Lady Booters team captain Hazel Lustan netted an equalizer in the 15th minute.
UST ended the first round at second place with a 2-1-1 win-draw-loss slate for seven points.
