THE UST Lady Booters’ finals hopes hang in the balance after a 0-0 draw against defending champion De La Salle University Lady Archers in the UAAP Season 81 women’s football tournament at the Circulo Verde football pitch Wednesday.
The Lady Booters still have a chance to enter the finals if they win against the University of the Philippines and if the Far Eastern University loses to La Salle.
The Lady Archers stayed atop the standings with a 3-3-0 win-draw-loss card for 12 points, while UST remained at third place behind a 2-3-2 slate for nine points.
Charisa Lemoran could have given the Lady Booters the lead in the 68th minute but her tap in shot got blocked by La Salle keeper Natasha Lacson.
Mareill Tejada blew her chance in the 19th minute after her header went over the bar.
“Naghihintay ang mga players kahit nasa harap na ng goal. Kailangang ma-develop namin ‘yong pagiging aggressive sana hanggang sa penalty box ng kalaban para maka-score kami,” UST head coach Prescila “Aging” Rubio said.
The Lady Booters will play the Lady Maroons in their final elimination round match on May 4, Saturday, 9 a.m. at the same venue.
