THE UST Lady Booters failed to advance to the finals of the UAAP Season 81 women’s football tournament after falling short against the University of the Philippines, 0-1, at the Circulo Verde football pitch Saturday.
The Lady Booters ended their campaign at third place behind a 2-3-3 win-draw-loss record for nine points and will miss the finals for the first time in two years.
UP remained at fourth place with a 2-2-3 slate for eight points and could snag third if they beat Ateneo de Manila University on May 8, Wednesday.
Dungca slotted home a tap-in goal in the 47th minute and never looked back as they slammed the door shut on UST.
Shelah Cadag’s screamer in the 65th minute was blocked by UP keeper Nicole Adlawan.
Team captain Hazel Lustan tried for a free kick but the attempt went far left.
UST will miss the services of Lustan, Rachelle Hope, Nicole Reyes, Ivy Lopez and Tonette Esperancilla after completing their playing years.
