The UST Golden Booters bowed down to the DLSU Green Booters, 2-0, in the UAAP Season 85 men’s football tournament at the UP Diliman Football Stadium on Sunday.

Green Booter Paolo Gabriel Go scored a goal off a Mike Umilin pass to break the scoreless deadlock in the 60th minute.

Fernando Suarez III scored another goal for DLSU in extra time to bury the Golden Booters for good.

Stephen Marasigan, Ken Escobar and Daniel Nartey had their chances to score for UST but were unable to convert.

“We went here like we forgot that this is a competition. This game versus La Salle is so important. We remind them before the game. But we look at the intensity, kahit sa first ball hindi kami nananalo, second ball hindi pa rin nananalo,” UST head coach Marjo Allado told the Varsitarian.

UST remained with four points and descended to sixth place in the standings with a 1-1-2 win-draw-loss record, while La Salle is now tied at fifth with the UP Fighting Maroons after accumulating six points with a 2-2 win-loss record.

The Golden Booters will next face the UE Red Warriors at the same venue on Thursday, March 16, at 2 p.m.
