EIGHT-TIME defending champion Adamson University Lady Falcons smothered the UST Tiger Softbelles in five innings, 11-2, to take Game 1 of the UAAP Season 81 softball finals at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Friday.

The Lady Falcons exhibited their hitting prowess right from the first inning where they converted nine runs.

Joy Maguad started the Adamson romp with a line drive to the center field that sent leadoff batter Arianne Vallestero back home, 1-0.

With all the bases loaded in the first inning, UST pitcher Celyn Ojare walked two Lady Falcons that brought Krisha Cantor and Maguad to home base, 3-0.

Adamson then went on to add six more runs in the first inning courtesy of Nichole Padasas, Remilie Herrero, Angelu Gabriel, Aliza Pichon, Clarisse Lozada and Maguad to take full control, 9-0.

The Lady Falcons added two more conversions in the second inning via hits from Pichon and Vallestero that scored Herrero and Lozada, 11-0.

Softbelle Trisha Tiozon awakened UST in the third inning after hammering a center right field two runs-batted-in double that sent Mharnie de la Cruz and Lealyn Guevarra home, 2-11.

The Softbelles will look to bounce back in Game 2 on April 2, Tuesday, 8:30 a.m., at the same venue.
