UNIVERSITIES Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) coaches now have the luxury of having bigger 14-man rotation during games.

This was the latest rule change, which will take effect in the upcoming 67th UAAPseason.

The original proposal was to allow each team to submit 16-man rosters that can all play. But it was narrowed down to 14. In the previous seasons, the league allowed teams to have 16 players in their lineup but only 12 could play.

For incoming Tigers head coach Reonel “Nel” Parado, the rule is not fit for his young España-based cagers.

“It’s generally a disadvantage to us,” Parado explained. “Since we are currently undergoing a rebuilding process, we need to expose more players. Sa rule na ito, ‘yung mga gusto kong ipasok sa team limited lang, unlike the previous events na 16 ang pwedeng i-line-up.”

In preparation for the upcoming season, Parado said that he needs the opportunity to give more players the experience they need, and that the new rule is limiting his chances. Dino Paulo T. Maragay
