UST HAS a new representative in the UAAP board.

Gilda Ma. Paz Kamus took over the slot left by assistant director Felicitas Francisco of the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (IPEA).

Francisco, who was a member of the board for more than 20 years, is now with the Office for Alumni Relations serving as liaison officer for Quadricentennial activities of the Thomasian Sports Luminary Alumni.

“It’s a very challenging assignment,” said Kamus, who is concurrently the IPEA secretary.

Fr. Ermito de Sagon, IPEA Director and co-UAAP board member, endorsed Kamus to the position.

Kamus earned her degree in physical education, health and music in 1991 at the College of Education where she also teaches at present. She was also awarded the Gawad Sto. Domingo Award in 2003 for being an outstanding teacher and was one of the recipients of the off-shore scholarship program where she was able to finish her master’s degree in education at the University of Western Australia.

Also an instructor of social dance classes, Kamus was the president of the Salinggawi Dance Troupe from 1989 to 1991.

Immediately after graduation, she was appointed as the adviser of the five-time UAAP Cheerdance champions.
