Tiger Spikers keep stainless record

December 5, 3:40 p.m. – THE ERROR-plagued Tiger Spikers managed to pull out a win, 25-8, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, over the University of the East (UE) Red Spikers, at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan earlier today.

UST’s erratic plays and a couple of attack errors in the third set allowed Red Spikers Angelone Soria and Homer Lauresta to pummel big hits for UE giving the Tiger Spikers a shocker and steal a set, 23-25.

The Espana-based spikers retaliated with strong attacks in the fourth set to come ahead of UE , 21-19.

John Paul Torres carried the Tiger Spikers to victory with his powerful strikes down UE’s side of the court with 25-20 in the fourth set.

Torres topscored for UST with 23 points while Salvador Depante contributed 20 markers. Lauresta and Soria delivered 14 and 13 points for UE, respectively. Angelo Nonato P. Cabrera
